So we are in a new year. As I type this there are hundreds of idiots out side around here lighting off big and small fireworks. Why do they do it? Because they are idiots. there is no other reason… other than they are also intoxicated out of their minds.

Seventeen years ago 19 men who were here in the US illigally perpetrated a terrorist attack bringing down the World Trade Center in New York City and taking out a large section of the Pentagon killing around 3000 innocent citizens. It gave our own government an excuse to erode our 1st 4th and 5th amendment rights. In other words the terrorists succeeded in their attack. They succeeded in taking our freedoms that millions of citizens have given their lives to defend throughout history. They have succeeded in eroding trust among people to the extent that anyone seen taking video or photos around government buildings or other properties is now automatically suspect. The one thing said during all these encounters has been “in this day and age” or something similar. Always referring to 9/11 and insinuating that somehow such behavior indicates the photographer/videographer is a possible terrorist.

Why must we constantly relive 9/11? Can we not move on and show the real terrorists that we are not going to cower under a rock and flinch every time we see a citizen with a camera? If terrorists wanted to surveil a possible target all they would need to do is look at Google Earth or Google Maps/Street View. They would not stand out front in broad daylight with a camera.

The latest nonsense from the leftist nanny state mindset is that plastic drink straws are somehow causing an environmental crisis. They quote a claim that 500,000,000 straws are being used and disposed of per day. this claim is based in a “study” performed by a grade school student and have no real basis in fact. The child called straw manufacturers and asked how many they made per day. He then extrapolated that that number somehow represented the number used. He was interviewed on some morning TV show and the left ran with it.

The left then started pressuring local, state, and even the federal government to outlaw plastic straws with now real evidence that doing so would do what they claimed it would. The resulting bans have and will force people to use a more costly and less practical alternative, namely paper or bamboo straws.

The city of Santa Barbara just passed the most draconian plastic straw ban yet! Six months in jail or $1000.00 fine per straw for anyone handing out plastic straws.

This is why there are so many gang shootings in big inner cities.

The shootings at Santa Fe Highschool outside of Houston, Texas would not have been stopped with the Left’s nonsensical demand for a ban on so-called assault weapons. The shooter was 17 and obtained the shotgun and pistol he used illegally. Neither weapon was a scary looking “assault” weapon. Another law would not have kept the kid from carrying out his sick crime. The kid was a loaner and had been spurned by one of the victims. The mother of the girl said that her daughter had humiliated the shooter after his aggressive advances toward her. This proves that it was not the guns, but the unstable mind of a mentally immature 17 y/o boy. Additional laws banning certain firearms is NOT the answer. Parents and teachers need to get back to teaching the difference between right and wrong. Yes, the lack morality is the problem, not the tools used.

You can’t blame your fork or spoon for overeating. You can’t blame the hammer for hitting your fingers. So, why blame the gun for the sick actions of a twisted mind? The pistol and shotgun the kid used were mere tools. Nothing more. If the shooter could not have obtained those weapons he would have found some other weapon. Sure, he might not have been able to kill as many other students, but he would have still killed.

Jimmy Kimmel and all the other idiots calling for stricter gun laws should think before they speak, though that may be difficult for them. This knee-jerk reaction to these tragedies of laying blame on an inanimate object ignores reaity. The real underlying problem is that the Left has removed morality from the curriculum and signalled to the children that the way to settle things is through violence. They have sown the wind and now are reaping the whirlwind. Their answer is to punish law-abiding citizens and make even more people unsafe.

Their boogyman is the NRA who they claim profits from gun sales. No, the NRA is a membership based organization that does not sell guns. They only sell membership and every time the Left starts whinging about scary looking guns that membership increases because thinking individuals understand that if the Left gets their way we might as well kiss our freedom away. The second Amendment is there for a very good reason — to guard against an all-powerful central government taking the rest of our rights away.
