Grab Bag

Some idiots in California think that the pistol grip on an AR-15 is what makes it so deadly. They now want a web of plastic attached from the pistol grip back to the butt stock. The modification will be applied with screws and it will be a felony to remove it. Yeah, that will save lives…

Some talking head on MSNBC is claiming that her old blog was hacked to make her look bad. There were several “homophobic” posts she claims she never authored. The problem is that the Internet never forgets and those posts were put up back when she was actively using it per the archive.com wayback machine…

It appears that the efforts of the idiot children marching against guns have backfired. The NRA has reported that they have received record donations and a surge in membership. It’s apparent that the idiot anti-gun nuts are a small minority and have little hope of getting their way nation wide…

Rand Paul has proposed way to achieve a balanced budget in five years. His plan would require the repeal of the recent ‘bipartisan” spending bill and reducing spending by 1% per year for the next 5 years. Hopefully he isn’t going to hold his breath until his plan is embraced by Congress because there is no chance that will ever happen…

There was a horrific mass murder in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with 10 dead and several injured. The murder weapon was a Rider Rental van. The murderer tried to get the police officer to shoot him by “quick drawing” an object out of his pocket repeatedly. The officer took him down and cuffed him without a shot. So far no calls for banning high capacity assault vans…

A Senate committee has passed a bill that is supposed to shield Robert Mueller from being fired by Trump. The bill has no chance of making it to the floor of the full Senate…

A judge has said it would be illegal for Trump to negate DACA. This is amusing since DACA is an illegal Executive branch overreach in the first place…

Until next time…

Misguided Youth

With this new movement to restrict firearm ownership they are missing the point. Crminals don’t care about the law! Banning certain firearms because they look like military grade weapons is foolish. Those weapons are no more dangerous than their less intimidating civilian style rifles with wooden stocks. A barrel shroud, collapsible shoulder stock and pistol grip do not make the rifle any more deadly. The silly idea that these features turn the rifle into a people killer is absurd!

The AR-15 (AR stands for Armilite Rifle not “Assault Rifle”, Armilite was the original developer and manufacturer) has ammunition of 5.56mm (.223 calber) and is less powerful than a typical hunting round which is 7mm or .30 caliber. Claiming that these weapons are not for civilian use is a sign of pure ignorance. The “Assault Rifle” during the 18th century was the musket and had a bore size of half an inch and could be fired 3 to 10 times per minute.

These young kids who the left is exploiting are ignorant and misguided to say the least. The planned “march for children’s lives” or whatever is nothing more than the product of propaganda and will not change a thing. Criminals will find a way to carry out their criminal activities regardless of how many laws are passed because they don’t care about the law. All that will happen is that law abiding citizens will be less safe when a criminal attacks.

The Right of Public Photography

There is a growing movement of citizen photographers asserting the right to photograph and video whatever the eye can see from public property. Many local, state and federal, even private entities, make claims that such action is somehow illegal. Most of these photographers have been harassed, assaulted and even arrested because they merely took pictures of what the naked eye can plainly see from public view.

One only needs to search YouTube for “1st Amendment Audit” to see what these brave individuals come up against. The shocking part of it is that there have been judicial decisions that support the right to photograph in public and too many leos are ignorant of this fact. You would think that in this age when virtually everyone has a cellphone with a camera that public photography would be an accepted practice.

So, my advice is if you see something take a photo or video of it!
